How To Master Your Golf Swing
To play golf like a pro, you need to master your back swing. Without this skill, you can not get the thrill of playing a good game of golf. Perhaps you already have this skill.
But improving on it would enhance your overall game as well as improve your putting skills. Remember that improving your power is not that critical as improving your form and distance, once you start to focus on this area.
Aligning with the ball, the right posture and good shoes would help you to improve your swing. What happens when you have a wrong posture is that you tend to twist at the wrong time. This poses a problem which may not allow you to hold the club properly.
What happens when all these things come together is that it spoils your attempt at a good back swing. For the right follow through for your swing, your first defensive step is to have the right posture.
One of the ways you can correct your posture is to take a snapshot of yourself or ask someone to take a shot. Compare the way you are standing with the standard correct posture and you would know. Take a lesson on how to correct postures if this option is not suitable.
A strong foundation skill is needed so that you could move in the right direction as you go on. Because it is difficult to assess one self, you could work with a golf instructor for his honest and unbiased views about your stance.
After rectifying your stance, you need to have a look at problems with your grip. Overextending the grip or holding the club the wrong way can result in a poor backhand right from the start. There is no way possible to have a correct back swing if you do not grip the club appropriately. Physically this can not be done. So the more you try, the more dejected you would feel. A small shift in the position of your hands could completely change the picture.
Before the club leaves the ground, just pull it away from the ball. This is yet another step towards improving your back swing. Players make the mistake of pulling and lifting the club nearly at the same moment. This will result in you're hitting the ball off centered and can greatly damage your movement. You can notice a dramatic improvement of the game if you just pull the club from the ball before lifting it from the ground. This is not something that should be unnatural of difficult to do. As soon as you consciously try to pull before lifting the club, your back swing talent would improve.
