Flexibility and Exercise Tips for Golfers

Published by at 10:03 am under Golf

For some people that have an inactive lifestyle, they find it hard to play golf for the first time - especially if they walk the whole'-holes. Though, if you have been playing for a while you are perhaps in a lot better physical shape, but your golf game will be really determined by your level of physical fitness. If you are in great shape physically, in terms of stamina, strength and flexibility, you will be able to play a much better game than those who are in a worse physical shape.

Muscle Mass and Your Flexibility

When you are working on your strength you need to also be working on your flexibility in order to have the best overall physical condition possible to play better golf. You need to build lean muscle, rather than bulky muscle. The primary difference is the amount of flexibility that the muscles can provide. Bulky muscles are likely to be stronger than lean muscles, but they aren't as flexible. This will really restrict your ability to twist appropriately while you swing the club.

Build Lean Muscles

Most golfers who are working on building muscle strength tend to build too much muscle mass. This is typically because they are weight lifting with heavy weights. To build lean muscles you must use lighter weights but with more repetitions. This will improve your muscle strength, while building the slender and lean muscles that are more useful for your golf game overall.

Before Playing Golf You Need to Warm Up

Flexibility is important so you need to work on your level of suppleness. This involves performing; by stretching before each round you will be ready to swing your golf club on the 1st tee without the risk of a pulled muscle. If you do not stretch then you may find yourself very sore after a game. Five minutes of stretching before and after a game of golf will ensure that you are able to play golf without any trouble or injuries.

Walking is Great Exercise

For those that have been playing golf for some time but have been riding around the course on a golf cart, then now is the time to start thinking about walking the course. If it is your first time walking the course, you might want to begin by walking a number of holes and alternate some holes by getting in the cart (presuming you have some golf buddies that can drive the cart for you.) Steadily raise the number of holes that you walk each round until you can manage to walk easily the 18-holes every time.

By carefully planning a complete golf exercise schedule, you can help yourself to improve your game of golf noticeably. If you want to play golf to a higher level, you will need to raise your level of physical fitness and your suppleness. You will be amazed at the benefits that it provides to your wellbeing as well as your overall golf swing.

Being fit for golf is great but also you need a reliable swing. This is easy to achieve with The Simple Swing invented by a talented Golf Swing Guru that I have been using since my back surgery.
